Man overcharged 20 rupees for India train ticket wins 22-year legal battle

 Tungnath Chaturvedi, an Indian lawyer, had filed a case against the Indian Railways when he was boarding a train to Moradabad and was overcharged 20 rupees on his ticket, in 1999. After a painstakingly lengthy trial in the Supreme Court, following 100 hearings, it was finally dismissed last week in favour of the relentless man. The court charged the railways to compensate the man with ₹15,000, plus an outstanding amount with an interest of 12%, which will spike to 15% if not paid under 30 days. The news has expressed the tiresome legal process in the nation and a brave man’s fight against corruption, in his own words.
