A 24-year-old scooty rider, Mohammed Ahmed, after speeding on an internal road of Andheri, crashed into a couple, whose 1.5-year-old daughter fell on the road and hitting her head, sustained injuries leading to intubation, ICU hospitalization and a 3 year long disability of speaking, in 2019. The accused, being witnessed by 5, who tried to flee but failed, defended himself in court by implying the fault upon absence of a zebra crossing. The magistrate court, refused to let go of the accused and has sentenced a 6-month imprisonment and a ₹30,000 fine, stressing the increasing road accidents and leniency regarding the same.
