Infra companies suffering strict RBI capital rules

Infrastructure companies are building pressure on lenders to convince RBI to let loose the tight grip on capital rules, which make the risk capital way higher than acceptable. Lenders urge the regulator to soften these risk weights, resulting into more projects on less interest, without compromising equity. However, RBI’s reluctance to shift its regulations is letting infra developers to reach out to credit rating companies, allowing them higher ratings (lower risk) based on terms and features of their project.
