Judiciary “appropriately treats” convict’s health hazards

On plea from daughter, Bombay High Court stated that basic human rights do not diminish after becoming a convict, implying to proper healthcare treatment, as in this case. Convict Prashant Rahi, a former journalist, convicted in 2017 for being a member of a banned Maoist organization, was pleaded to be suffering from severe stomach issues, due to which he was allowed to be examined by a gastroenterologist by the court. The 2013 arrested convict was associated with Delhi University professor Sai Baba.
