YSR Congress Party Lok Sabha MP M.V.V. Satyanarayana’s wife Jyothi, son Sarat Chowdary, and auditor G. Venkateswara Rao were kidnapped for ransom. Satyanarayana was in Hyderabad and was unaware of the event. The kidnappers demanded Rs. 50 crore, but after almost two days of captivity they received Rs. 1.75 crore from Venkateswara Rao and the police were able to track them down. The hostages were rescued unharmed and the police apprehended three kidnappers. Hemanth Kumar, one of the kidnappers, is a recently released jail inmate and has previously been involved in cases of kidnap and murder.
