Association demands compensation for mango farmers in Krishnagiri

The Tamil Nadu Vivasayigal Sangam held a protest demanding compensation for mango growers who suffered losses due to widespread disease on Monday. The Horticulture Department had attributed the disease to “excessive use of pesticides,” but it was denied by the farmers. The Sangam demanded a compensation of ₹50,000 per acre for the loss, which was reportedly higher than the tentative 53% estimated by the district administration. In addition, they called for subsidy for quality pesticides to enable farmers to make the right choices and for advance orientation on the nature of pesticides and fertilizers to be used for the crop.
