The Hindu Munnani has passed a resolution urging the Tamil Nadu Government to reopen the Sterlite Copper plant, which has been sealed since 2018 following protests. The conference argued that as India is now importing copper from other countries for a higher price, domestic production is necessary to fulfill the country’s demand. The conference also expressed concern over the delay in the Tamirabharani – Karumaeniyar – Nambiyar River Linking Project and urged the Tamil Nadu government to take sincere steps to check pollution in all rivers. The conference also criticized the system of sale of tickets to devotees in temples for darshan and urged the Hindu Religious and Charitable Endowments Department to look for other means of revenue.
