Farmers under the Kodiveri – Bhavani River – Thadapalli – Arakkankottai Pasana Vivasayigal Sangam banner are opposing the construction of a new dyeing unit near the Kodiveri anicut. The unit, expected to be operational soon, will occupy 35-acres. The farmers are concerned that the unit will pollute the Kodiveri river, which is the primary source of water for farmers in the area, and threaten farming activities. They are also worried that the unit will impact the combined water supply schemes to various panchayat unions. The farmers plan to protest on June 26 at the Kodiveri Anicut Junction on Gobichettipalayam – Sathy Main Road.
