Had Mumbai roads been concretised 15 years ago, we could have saved INR 3,500 crore: Eknath Shinde

About INR 3,500 crore could have been saved had the roads of Mumbai been concretised 15 years ago, said Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde on Tuesday. The Shiv Sena had called for a protest against irregularities in the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC), which it ruled until last year. Shinde announced the launch of a programme to make Mumbai’s roads pothole-free and concretised within two to three years. The first phase will cover 450km at a cost of INR 6,000 crore. The Shiv Sena also announced a protest march against alleged financial irregularities in the BMC on July 1.
