In today’s world, topics like climate change, ozone layer depletion, soil erosion, and deforestation dominate discussions. Yet, we don’t hesitate to turn on the air conditioner to manage these issues. However, back when we were growing up, air conditioners were considered a luxury. We coped with the heat in various ways. For example, using a solo table fan in the living room, keeping water slightly cooler in an earthen pot, and using handheld fans to generate air movement. In the evenings, we would pour water on the terrace to cool it down, and some would even sleep on the terrace. We consumed cool vegetables and fruits to beat the heat. Nowadays, with advancements in technology, while air conditioners provide temporary relief, they also contribute to rising temperatures outside. The construction of concrete buildings and other factors intensify the summer onslaught. It’s essential to consider sustainable solutions for cooling while addressing the impact of modern advancements.
