Billionaire industrialist Anand Mahindra joined the likes of Reliance Industries Chairman Mukesh Ambani, Google CEO Sundar Pichai, Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella, and Apple CEO Tim Cook, among others in the East Room of the White House on Friday night for an India-US Hi-Tech Handshake meeting. After the meeting, Mahindra took to Twitter to share his experience. He stated that the Hi-Tech Handshake event was refreshingly frank and expressed optimism about closer technology cooperation between India and the US. Mahindra also met with Sam Altman, the founder of OpenAI, and discussed the challenge for Indian start-ups that Tech Mahindra MD and CEO CP Gurnani had accepted. Altman’s response had previously been taken out of context, and he clarified that he was far from skeptical about Indian abilities. Mahindra had the opportunity to explore the White House before the meeting and shared pictures on Twitter, highlighting the heritage atmosphere of the rooms named by their colors. Mahindra also attended a state dinner at the White House, where he enjoyed performances by American violinist Joshua Bell and the South Asian a cappella group Penn Masala. He praised the musical talents and shared a video of the US Marine Band playing ‘Ae Mere Watan Ke Logon’.
