The recently concluded Palm Springs International ShortFest 2023 witnessed the announcement of the winners of the top prizes. The awards were given to outstanding short films from various categories. Among the winners were ‘The Old Young Crow’, a Japanese-United States short film that explores the lessons learned by an elderly Persian man from an old Japanese woman. Lithuania’s ‘Way Better’ won the best animated short award, while China’s ‘Will You Look At Me’ won for documentary short. France’s ‘Sèt Lam’ and Spain’s ‘Mystic Tiger’ were recognized in different live-action short categories. The winners now have the opportunity to submit their films for consideration for an Oscar. The Palm Springs International ShortFest 2023 received a total of 299 short film entries, making these awards highly competitive and prestigious. The winners also received cash prizes worth $25,000.
