Bridge Collapses During First Rain in Durg, Chhattisgarh

In a major incident, a bridge under construction collapsed in Durg district of Chhattisgarh. The structure of the bridge collapsed during the first rain. The video of the bridge collapsing is going viral on social media. The bridge was being built for a cost of 16 crores. Allegations of negligence in the construction work have been made. The incident has raised concerns about the safety measures taken during the construction of the bridge. The length of the bridge was 400 meters.

According to information, people had gathered at the bridge to see the rising water level in the Shivnath river on Wednesday morning. During this time, the structure of the bridge suddenly collapsed into the river. The construction work of the bridge was being carried out by Amar Infrastructure Company. The department has stated that the 15th span of the bridge’s staging and centering has been washed away, but the rest of the bridge has not been damaged.

It is reported that no official from the administration or department reached the spot after the structure of the bridge collapsed near Sagni Ghat. No security arrangements were made near the construction site of the bridge. It is being said that the bridge collapsed due to poor construction work. An amount of 16 crores was approved for the construction of this bridge. The bridge was being built to connect Silli and Nankatti over the Shivnath river.

Meanwhile, heavy rains are being reported in many districts of Chhattisgarh. Heavy rainfall has caused flooding in several rivers of the state. Monsoon had arrived in the state on June 23. Since then, the entire state has been receiving rainfall.
