Ahead of PM Narendra Modi’s summit with President Emmanuel Macron in Paris, French Ambassador Emmanuel Lenain said Friday that Modi’s visit is likely to see substantive outcomes in areas like defence, space, security, energy and people to people contacts. On the proposed multibillion-dollar deal for the procurement of Rafale-M aircraft by the Indian Navy, the ambassador said it’s India that has to take the final decision and that France is committed to providing the best technology and offer to India. Modi’s visit will come weeks after his summit in the US that saw pathbreaking initiatives to dismantle defence and hi-tech trade barriers.
