India Post and Canada Post Join Hands to Facilitate E-commerce

India Post and Canada Post have recently signed an agreement to introduce International Tracked Packet Service (ITPS) between the two countries. The service, which became operational on Saturday, is intended to facilitate e-commerce exports. According to the official release from India’s Ministry of Communications, the ITPS is a competitive service for the transmission and delivery of packets, designed to meet the cross-border shipping requirements of e-commerce exporters, including MSMEs, small businesses, and merchants. The service aims to promote exports of their products using local post offices.

India Post already provides this service with 38 partner countries. With Canada as the newest addition, it now has a total of 39 partner countries. The statement mentioned that the service was extended from 16 countries to 38 countries by adding 22 new partners from June 01, 2023. The details of countries with ITPS service and tariffs can be found on the India Post website.

According to the statement, the ITPS rates are kept economical in comparison to International EMS (Speed Post) and other market products. The postage for the first 50 gms would be Rs 400, with an additional Rs 35 for every 50 gms. This provides an affordable shipping solution of up to 2 kg to exporters, along with pick-up services and volume-based discounts for contractual customers.
