A 24-year-old resident of Kaliyanur village in Kancheepuram district was killed on Tuesday, July 4, 2023, in a road accident. The victim, identified as Selvam, was working at a textile showroom in Kancheepuram town. He was driving his two-wheeler rashly in an attempt to reach his workplace on time. While trying to overtake a van on the narrow Kamakshi Amman Sannadhi street, he lost control of his vehicle and collided with a mini van. Selvam fell off his vehicle and suffered severe head injuries as he was not wearing a helmet. He was immediately taken to the Government Kancheepuram Hospital and later transferred to the Rajiv Gandhi Government General Hospital in Chennai, where he succumbed to his injuries in the evening. The Siva Kanchi Police have registered a case and are currently investigating the incident.
