Security forces successfully prevented clashes in Manipur’s Kangpokpi district, where two armed groups from Mapao and Awang Sekmai areas had gathered and fired a few rounds near Phaileng village. The tensions escalated in the area, but personnel of the Assam Rifles quickly reached the spot and brought the situation under control. However, women in the area blocked the roads to hinder the forces’ access. Meanwhile, in Churachandpur, a peaceful rally was staged by thousands of Kukis, with no untoward incidents being reported. The rally took place from the Public Ground to the Tuibong Peace Ground and lasted until 7 pm.
