The special investigation unit (SIU) of Jammu and Kashmir Police recently conducted raids at six different locations in Kishtwar district, targeting terrorists operating from Pakistan. This action was taken after obtaining search warrants from Jammu’s NIA court. The targeted individuals, namely Manzoor Ahmed, Nazir Ahmed, Shabir Ahmed, Mohd Igbal Rishi, Mohd Amin Bhatt, and Mohd Iqbal, are all residents of Kishtwar and are currently operating from Pakistan and Pakistan Occupied Kashmir.
The raids were part of the police’s efforts to dismantle the terror ecosystem in the district. In March and April, the Kishtwar police obtained non-bailable warrants against 36 local terrorists who are currently operating from Pakistan. Since then, a crackdown has been initiated, resulting in raids at their houses and confiscation of their property.
Kishtwar SSP Khalil Poswal confirmed that six teams, led by sub-divisional police officers, carried out simultaneous raids at the suspects’ residences. The raids were conducted as part of a case registered last year under the UAPA Act.
The Jammu and Kashmir Police’s SIU is focused on disrupting and neutralizing terrorist activities in the region. Their recent operations in Kishtwar district reflect their determination to root out terrorism and maintain peace and security in the area.
