Supriya Sule shares her thoughts on the rebellion in NCP and Ajit Pawar’s decision

Supriya Sule, the working president of the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP), recently spoke about the sequence of events leading up to the rebellion in the party. She revealed that she was unaware of her cousin Ajit Pawar’s decision to join the government led by Devendra Fadnavis and Ajit Pawar. Sule stated that she was at Ajit Pawar’s residence that morning and had a long conversation with him before NCP MLAs started arriving. She assumed they had come to discuss the election of the state president, as Ajit had expressed his desire to quit his position as the Leader of the Opposition and take on organizational responsibilities in the party. Sule was disappointed by Ajit Pawar’s decision and felt that it could have been handled in a more dignified manner, without keeping her father, Sharad Pawar, in the dark. Expressing her disappointment, she mentioned that while senior leaders had left the party in the past, it was never a secret. They met Pawar and explained their reasons for leaving, and Pawar did not stop them. Sule also refuted allegations that Sharad Pawar himself had played a role in Ajit Pawar’s alliance with the Shinde-Fadnavis government. She stated that if that was the case, Pawar would not have initiated moves to revive the party across the state and take disciplinary action against erring leaders. Sule highlighted that disqualification proceedings had been initiated against Praful Patel and Sunil Tatkare. Sule’s comments shed light on the internal dynamics of the NCP and the disappointment she felt towards Ajit Pawar’s decision.
