National Highway Authority of India has authorized the road construction contractor agency, Ashoka Belgaum Khanapur Road Private Limited, to start toll collection on the recently upgraded four-lane NH-748 (Old NH-4A) connecting Karnataka and Goa. The toll plaza at Ganebail Cross will start collecting toll from Tuesday. The concession period for the 30-km length of the highway is 15 years. Local residents can get a monthly pass for ₹330. Toll rates include discounts for return journeys and other categories of vehicles. The capital cost of the project is ₹1154.40 crore and the toll rates will be reduced to 40% on recovery of capital cost.
