Guinness World Records Deactivates Longest Kiss Category Due to Safety Concerns

Guinness World Records has recently made the decision to deactivate the longest kiss category due to safety concerns. The record for the longest kiss was set by a Thai couple in 2013, who kissed for a remarkable 58 hours and 35 minutes. However, in light of the risks and the organization’s policy, Guinness World Records decided to discontinue the category.

The event took place in Pattaya, Thailand, on February 12, 2013, and concluded on Valentine’s Day. During the event, nine couples participated, with one couple managing to kiss for a duration of 1 hour and 38 minutes. As time went on, only four couples remained, and the previous record of 50 hours and 25 minutes was surpassed.

The winning couple, Ekkachai and Laksana Tiranarat, had previously set a kissing record in 2011 and were crowned champions once again. In addition to recognition, they received a prize of 100,000 Thai Baht (approximately 235,000 INR) and two diamond rings.

While the record was achieved, subsequent events highlighted the potential risks and dangers of kissing for such extended periods. Participants faced challenges such as sleep deprivation and mental health issues. These incidents served as warnings, leading to Guinness World Records taking the decision to end the longest kiss category.

Although the longest kiss category has been deactivated, Guinness World Records continues to monitor and recognize various achievements and accomplishments in other categories across the world.
