Delhi Rains: 13 Locations Waterlogged, Pragati Maidan Tunnel Closed Temporarily

Following heavy rainfall in New Delhi, 13 locations in the city experienced waterlogging, leading to extensive traffic congestion. Areas affected by waterlogging include Pragati Maidan tunnel, Tikri Kalan, Gazipur Dairy Farm, and Boulevard Road. Additionally, a tree collapse was reported in Hemkunt Colony, GK-I, and a road caved in on the way to Sabzi Mandi Carriageway from Ramdev Chowk. The Traffic Control Room received calls about traffic congestion, failure of traffic signals, uprooted trees, and potholes on the roads. Power failure in various parts of the city resulted in non-functioning of signals. Traffic personnel were deployed to regulate traffic at intersections without power supply. Messages were also sent to other civic agencies, including Horticulture Departments, to mobilize resources and manpower for the situation. Police have closed the Pragati Maidan tunnel due to significant waterlogging. An extensive pumping operation is underway to mitigate the waterlogging. Commuters are advised to use alternative routes and modes of transportation.
