The AIADMK’s expelled coordinator, O. Panneerselvam, has accused the DMK government of failing to control the escalating prices of essential commodities, specifically pointing out the increasing price of tomatoes. While factors such as economic policies, international market situations, and domestic production contribute to the price rise, Panneerselvam highlights hoarding as the main reason. In April, tomatoes were sold at ₹20 per kg, but now the price has reached ₹150 per kg. Panneerselvam urges the government to take action against hoarders and create more cold storage facilities to prevent such price hikes.
