Seven people have been killed and three were reported missing in South Korea as heavy rains caused widespread flooding. Over the past three days, several counties have been submerged due to the heavy rainfall. The Goesan Dam in the central county of Goesan began overflowing, leading to the evacuation of over 6,400 residents and the submersion of nearby villages. The victims died in rain-related incidents, including landslides and building collapses. In addition, two people were swept away when a river overflowed in North Gyeongsang province. As a result of the flooding, all regular train services have been suspended, although KTX bullet trains continue to operate with potential adjustments. South Korean Prime Minister Han Duck-soo has urged officials to respond proactively to river overflows and landslides and has requested rescue support from the defense ministry.
