Haryana government has taken the decision to provide 20 liters of mustard oil per month to poor BPL families. The scheme, which will be effective from 1st July, aims to address the issue of inadequate supply of mustard oil and the lack of availability during the COVID-19 pandemic. Previously, the government was providing these families with a DBT of Rs 250 per liter instead of mustard oil. The government has directed the Food and Supply Department to ensure the delivery of mustard oil to these families at the focal points of each district between the 20th and 30th of every month. The quality and quantity of the oil will be reviewed on a quarterly basis. This scheme will benefit nearly 20 lakh poor families in the state.
