Monsoon continued to be weak on Monday despite yellow alerts across the three coastal districts of Dakshina Kannada, Udupi, and Uttara Kannada. DK District received an average of 23mm of rainfall, with Kadaba taluk receiving the highest rainfall of 36mm. Udupi district received an average rainfall of 26mm, with Udupi taluk receiving the highest at 34mm. In the state, the highest rainfall was recorded in Uttara Kannada. According to KSNDMC, Nilkund in Siddapur taluk received 87mm followed by Castlerock in Supa taluk at 81mm. Kodkani in Siddapur taluk received 77mm of rainfall. IMD’s yellow alert continues in the coastal districts for another couple of days. INCOIS issued a rough sea alert warning fishermen not to venture into the sea stating that high swell waves in the range of two to 2.8 meters were predicted along the coast from Mangaluru to Karwar. IMD also predicted heavy rain between 64mm to 115 mm was likely at isolated places over all the districts of Coastal Karnataka. Thunderstorms with lightning accompanied by gusty winds with wind speed reaching 30-40 Kmph were also likely to occur at isolated places over all the districts of Coastal Karnataka till July 22. The water level in Nethravathi river at Bantwal and Uppinangady in DK District was well below danger levels.
