Prime Minister Narendra Modi virtually inaugurated the new integrated terminal building of Veer Savarkar Airport in Port Blair, Andaman and Nicobar Islands. He used the occasion to launch a scathing attack on the opposition parties, claiming that their mantra is ‘of, by and for the family’. He accused the opposition of promoting corruption and ignoring the development of the country’s poor. PM Modi highlighted the progress made in Andaman and Nicobar Islands, such as the increase in tourist inflows and the development of infrastructure. He also mentioned the renaming of several islands to honor India’s freedom struggle. The new terminal building, shaped like a shell, has 100% natural lighting and a capacity to handle 1,200 passengers during peak hours and around 40 lakh passengers annually. The facility is expected to boost tourism and strengthen the economy of the archipelago.
