India Bags Fourth Gold in World University Games, Placed Fourth in Medal Standings

The compound mixed archery team of Aman Saini and Pragati from India secured a gold medal in the World University Games held in Chengdu, China. This victory marks India’s fourth gold in the event. Aman and Pragati displayed exceptional skills in the final, defeating their opponents with a score of 157-156.

As of now, India is placed fourth in the overall medal standings with a total of 10 medals, including four gold, two silver, and four bronze. Apart from archery, the Indian team also won medals in shooting events.

The men’s compound team, consisting of Sangampreet Bisla, Aman Saini, and Rishabh Yadav, won a bronze medal by defeating their Korean opponents with a score of 229-225. On the other hand, the women’s compound team, comprising Purvasha, Pragati, and Avneet, settled for a silver medal after losing to Korea in the final with a score of 224-229.

In the shooting category, the trio of Vijayveer, Udayveer Sidhu, and Adarsh Singh won a silver medal in the 25m rapid fire pistol team event with a cumulative score of 1729. Additionally, Surya Pratap, Sartaj Singh, and Aishwary Tomar secured a bronze medal in the 50m rifle team category.

Vijayveer also qualified for the individual final of the 25m rapid fire pistol event with a score of 583. Aishwary made it to the final of the individual 50m rifle event.

India’s outstanding performance in the World University Games highlights the country’s talent and dedication in sports. With their impressive medal haul, the Indian team has brought pride and honor to the nation.
