The Manohar International Airport (MIA) in Goa has been designated as an authorized immigration check post for individuals holding e-visas, according to a spokesperson of the airport. This development comes as the airport welcomed its first international flight from London-Gatwick on July 21. MIA, located in North Goa, is operated by GMR Goa International Airport Ltd (GGIAL), a subsidiary of GMR Airports Infrastructure Ltd. With this new status, international travelers with e-visas can expect a seamless and hassle-free entry process into India through the MIA. The airport aims to attract more international carriers in the future. Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the airport on December 11, 2022. Within just three months of domestic operations, the airport has already become one of the top 20 airports in India based on domestic traffic data from March 2023. The introduction of the e-visa facility marks an important milestone for MIA, which now possesses world-class infrastructure to facilitate international travel. The CEO of GGIAL emphasized the importance of establishing connections with more international destinations to boost tourism and socio-economic development in the region.
