17 Indian Nationals from Punjab and Haryana Held Captive in Libya Evacuated

Seventeen Indian nationals from Punjab and Haryana have been successfully rescued and evacuated from Libya. The individuals were held captive in Libya after being promised employment opportunities in other countries. This incident comes after a similar rescue operation in March, where 12 Indians were deceived with fake job offers in Dubai. The victims were tricked into traveling to Libya, where they were forced into captivity against their will.

The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA), in coordination with local authorities and organizations, carried out the rescue operation. The MEA has been actively involved in rescuing and repatriating Indian citizens facing difficulties and hazardous situations abroad.

It is alarming to see the rise in cases where Indian nationals are being targeted and exploited by illegal recruitment agents. These agents promise lucrative job opportunities in foreign countries but deceive and trap unsuspecting individuals. The victims are often subjected to inhumane working and living conditions and are deprived of their basic rights.

As per reports, the 17 rescued individuals had reached Libya after being lured with false promises of employment in other nations. Once in Libya, they were held captive against their will. After receiving distress messages, the MEA took prompt action to ensure their safe return.

This incident serves as a reminder for individuals to exercise caution while seeking employment opportunities abroad. It is essential to verify the authenticity of job offers and thoroughly research the recruitment agents and companies before making any commitments.

The Indian government has been actively working to create awareness and take strict action against illegal recruitment practices. Efforts are being made to collaborate with international agencies and foreign governments to tackle this issue and protect Indian citizens from falling victim to such scams.

The successful rescue and evacuation of the 17 Indian nationals from Punjab and Haryana is a testament to the efforts and dedication of the Indian authorities. The individuals will be provided with necessary support and assistance to reintegrate into society and rebuild their lives.

It is crucial for governments, both domestic and international, to work together to identify and apprehend the culprits behind these illegal recruitment operations. Collective action and strict measures are necessary to eliminate such illegal practices and safeguard the rights and well-being of individuals seeking employment opportunities abroad.
