Defiant BRS MLA from Malkajgiri, Mynampalli Hanumantha Rao, has declared that his next step will be determined after a meeting with his supporters from Malkajgiri and Medak assembly segments. This comes after his controversial remarks about Finance Minister T. Harish Rao in Tirumala. Hanumantha Rao reiterated on Tuesday that he would make a decision only after he returns to Hyderabad and consults with his aides. His dispute seems to be solely with Harish Rao and not with Chief Minister K. Chandrashekhar Rao or the party. He has requested that both himself and his son, Dr. Mynampalli Rohit, be given party tickets. Rao wants his son to contest from the Medak assembly seat, a position he has been cultivating for some time, citing his son’s work during the COVID-19 pandemic. However, the BRS leadership has renominated him from Malkajgiri but ignored his plea for a ticket for his son. This has left the disgruntled legislator in a difficult position with regards to his next move. The party leadership was displeased with his remarks against Harish Rao and his threat to run as an independent candidate if only one ticket was given. Chief Minister K. Chandrashekhar Rao, who is also the BRS supremo, made it clear that it was Hanumantha Rao’s decision whether to accept the party ticket for Malkajigiri or not. The BRS working President K. T. Rama Rao also condemned the MLA’s behavior and expressed support for Harish Rao, emphasizing that he is an integral founding member of the BRS party.
