The Mizoram Assembly has adopted a resolution opposing the Forest (Conservation) Amendment Act, 2023 recently passed by the Parliament. The resolution, moved by Mizoram Environment, Forest and Climate Change Minister TJ Lalnuntluanga, aims to protect the rights and interests of the people of Mizoram. Despite efforts made by the state government to protect the forests and the rights of the people, the concerns expressed by Mizoram through numerous correspondences to the Centre yielded no result. The resolution was unanimously supported by all MLAs except one. The resolution highlights the need to safeguard the forests and preserve the rights of the people.
