A flood-like situation was witnessed in Assam’s Sonitpur district due to the increase in the water level of the Brahmaputra River on August 27. The Central Water Commission (CWC) reported that the water level of the Brahmaputra River has risen in many parts of the state. As a result, nearly 12,000 people have been affected, with 38 villages currently submerged under water. The flood waters have also caused damage to 426.50 hectares of crop area in the district.
