Maruti Suzuki India, one of the leading automobile manufacturers in the country, has reported its highest-ever monthly wholesales for the month of August. The company recorded a total of 1,89,082 units in wholesales, marking a growth of 14% compared to the same month last year when it had dispatched 1,65,173 units.
Maruti Suzuki’s domestic passenger vehicle sales stood at 1,56,114 units in August, showing a remarkable growth of 16% as compared to the year-ago month, which witnessed sales of 1,34,166 units.
However, sales of mini segment cars, including popular models like Alto and S-Presso, witnessed a decline. The company sold only 12,209 units in this segment, as opposed to 22,162 units in August 2022. On the other hand, the dispatch of compact cars, which include models like Baleno, Celerio, Dzire, Ignis, and Swift, witnessed a slight increase, with sales reaching 72,451 units, compared to 71,557 units in the same period last year.
The utility vehicle segment of Maruti Suzuki, which includes models like Brezza, Grand Vitara, Jimny, Ertiga, and XL6, witnessed substantial growth in sales. The company sold 58,746 units in August 2023, as opposed to 26,932 units in August 2022, marking an impressive growth rate.
Maruti Suzuki also experienced a positive trend in terms of exports. The company exported 24,614 units in August, compared to 21,481 units in the corresponding month last year, indicating a rise in demand for its vehicles in international markets.
Overall, Maruti Suzuki’s performance in August showcases its dominance in the Indian automobile industry. With its highest-ever monthly wholesales, significant growth in domestic sales, and positive export figures, the company continues to strengthen its position in the market.
