Sunny Deol and Ameesha Patel’s film Gadar 2 has achieved great success, becoming one of the highest grossing films of all time. Directed by Anil Sharma, the film has earned over Rs 480 crore within just three weeks of its release, and its box office momentum continues to grow. Filmmaker Anurag Kashyap, praising the film’s massive success, highlighted the marketing strategy employed, which created a sense of nostalgia among the audience. Kashyap mentioned that he has been too busy to watch Gadar 2, OMG 2, or Dream Girl 2 but expressed his intention to make time for them. He also shared that he was fortunate enough to see Abhishek Bachchan and Saiyami Kher’s Ghoomer in Melbourne. On the topic of Gadar 2’s success, Kashyap opined that the film’s strong marketing campaign and nostalgic appeal greatly contributed to its triumph. He noted that Gadar 2 was released alongside Aamir Khan’s Lagaan and Dil Chahta Hai, and still managed to surpass the combined collection of these two films. Kashyap emphasized that Gadar has had the highest number of viewers, and its marketing efforts successfully recreated the nostalgia associated with Gadar 1. Speaking to Bollywood Hungama, Kashyap expressed his satisfaction that Gadar 2 and OMG 2 did not exploit the opportunity to create division or animosity between communities. He commended the responsible approach taken by the filmmakers, stating that they avoided unnecessary chaos, animosity, and hatred. By doing so, they exemplified responsible mainstream filmmaking. The success of Gadar 2 and its responsible execution are cherished by Kashyap, who appreciates the avoidance of any rift or divide among communities.
