Zoom CEO Suggests U.S. FTC Should Rethink Microsoft Teams Bundle

Zoom CEO Eric Yuan has raised concerns about the bundling of Microsoft Teams with other products and has suggested that the U.S. Federal Trade Commission (FTC) should examine this practice. Yuan’s comments came during the Goldman Sachs Communacopia + Technology Conference, where he addressed Microsoft’s decision to separate Teams from its offerings in the European Union to avoid an antitrust fine. He argued that the same question should be posed to the FTC. Microsoft had faced pressure from EU regulators following an antitrust complaint by Slack. Starting from October 1, Teams will no longer be included in the Microsoft 365 and Office 365 bundles, and enterprise customers will have to purchase it separately. Yuan’s comments reflect the growing concern around antitrust issues in the tech industry.
