The Supreme Court has issued a directive to the DGPs (Directors General of Police) of all states, asking them to submit their suggestions to the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) on preparing a manual for media briefings by the police in criminal cases. The court has given a one-month deadline for the DGPs to communicate their proposals to the MHA. The Supreme Court has also stated that the suggestions provided by the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) should be considered while preparing the guidelines. This move aims to streamline and standardize the process of media briefings by the police, ensuring transparency and accuracy.
