Adani Wind, the wind energy solutions division of Adani New Industries Limited (ANIL), has received type certification for its 5.2 MW Wind Turbine Generator (WTG), India’s largest, from WindGuard GmbH. This certification enables Adani Wind to begin series production of the WTG for global markets. It also serves as confirmation that Adani WTG meets the internationally recognized IEC 61400 series standards and regulations for design, testing, and manufacturing. WindGuard conducted the testing of the WTG prototype, which was installed in Mundra, Gujarat. Vneet Jaain, Director of Adani New Industries Limited, stated that the certification reaffirms the quality and robustness of their 5.2 MW WTG platform, designed to reduce the Levelized Cost of Energy (LCOE). He added that the certification is a boost to their goal of making India the global manufacturing hub for renewable equipment, and that they are well-positioned to meet the global demand for wind energy. Adani Wind’s 5.2 MW turbine features a rotor diameter of 160 meters, a swept area of 20,106 square meters, and a tip height of 200 meters. It was developed in collaboration with W2E Wind to Energy GmbH, Germany. Milind Kulkarni, COO of Adani Wind, mentioned that the certification is a testament to their research and development efforts, aimed at increasing the Annual Energy Production (AEP) of wind power plants and enhancing profitability for customers. Adani Wind has an integrated manufacturing ecosystem for WTG located in Mundra, Gujarat, with the blade manufacturing unit and the nacelle and hub assembly unit located near Mundra port. This news reaffirms Adani Wind’s commitment to renewable energy and their efforts to contribute to India’s clean energy transition.
