Up to 19% Hike in Toll at Five Entry Points in Mumbai from October 1

From October 1, the toll rates at the five entry points of Mumbai are set to increase in the range of 12.50-18.75%. These entry points include Dahisar, LBS Road-Mulund, Eastern Express Highway-Mulund, Airoli Creek Bridge, and Vashi. The last revision of toll rates was made in October 2020. However, the increase is made effective every three years according to the government notification.

For light motor vehicles or passenger cars, the one-way toll will increase by Rs 5, from Rs 40 to Rs 45. Mini buses will have to pay an extra Rs 10, with the toll rising from Rs 65 to Rs 75. Trucks and buses will be charged Rs 150, while multi-axle vehicles will have to pay Rs 190.

The toll at these entry points has been levied since September 2002 and was extended in 2010. The current toll charge will continue until October 2026, except at Vashi where the recovery period will be extended due to the new bridge and widening works.

The toll collection contract will continue until September 2027, generating an expected cash flow of over Rs 11,500 crore for Mumbai Entry Point Toll Ltd (MEPL). Commuters using these entry points will need to be prepared for the increased toll rates starting October 1.
