Parliament proceedings moved to the new building today after the Lok Sabha Secretariat designated the new building as the Parliament House of India. The old building has been proposed to be renamed ‘Samvidhan Sadhan’. Proceedings on the second day of the five-day special session began in the Lok Sabha with PM Narendra Modi’s address to the House. PM Modi highlighted the significance of the ‘Nari Shakti Vandan Adhiniyam’ and emphasized the need to pass the Women’s Reservation Bill unanimously. Later, the government introduced the Women’s Reservation Bill in the Lower House. The Rajya Sabha, meanwhile, was adjourned briefly soon after it was reconvened. A function was organized at the Central Hall to bid farewell to the old Parliament building, where PM Modi urged the members to reaffirm the commitment to make India a developed nation by 2047. Members of Parliament also gathered outside the old building for a group photograph. Stay tuned for more live updates from the special session of Parliament.
