Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has instructed the revenue department to conduct a land audit in and around Bengaluru to address alleged encroachments by resorts and homestays on government land. The directive came after a complaint was brought to the attention of the chief minister by former MLC and KPCC spokesperson, Ramesh Babu. It was reported that approximately 75,000 acres of land have been encroached upon, with around 6,000 acres being illegally possessed by various resorts. In response, the chief minister wrote to the revenue department principal secretary, urging a thorough land audit and survey within a 100km radius of the city. The aim is to identify and clear these alleged encroachments, ensuring that the government land is protected and utilized appropriately.
