The Indian women’s cricket team displayed an impeccable performance as they secured a place in the final of the Asian Games with a convincing eight-wicket victory against Bangladesh. Jemimah Rodrigues showcased her impressive skills and remained unbeaten at 20 runs, providing stability to the Indian innings. Pooja Vastrakar, the right-arm pacer, played a crucial role in restricting Bangladesh to a score of 51, leading India’s bowling attack. This victory brings a sense of nostalgia for Indian fans, as the men’s team recently won the Asia Cup final against Sri Lanka. Despite stumbling twice while chasing the modest score, India confidently sealed their place in the final. The openers, Smriti Mandhana and Shafali Verma, fell victim to the Bangladeshi bowlers. Earlier, Pooja Vastrakar dismissed two Bangladeshi openers, setting the tone for the match. The Indian team exhibited excellent teamwork and bowled out Bangladesh for a mere 51 runs. Captain Nigar Sultana was the only batter to reach double digits. Ritu Moni, Fahima Khatun, Rabeya Khan, Nahida Akter, Sultana Khatun, and Marufa Akter contributed a total of 23 runs. India will compete in the final for the gold medal, with the opponent yet to be decided. The match is scheduled for Monday.
