Metro Ridership on Lines 2A & 7 Crosses 5 Cr Mark, Mumbai One Card a Hit

Passenger traffic on Mumbai Metro’s lines 2A and 7 has surpassed 5 crore, reaching 5,05,22,330 between April 2, 2022, and September 24, 2023, according to the Maha Mumbai Metro Corporation Limited (MMMOCL). Several stations, including Andheri West, Anand Nagar, Dahanukar Wadi, Dahisar (E), Kandivali (W), and Borivali (W), have emerged as popular commuter destinations. The Mumbai One Card has seen encouraging adoption, with approximately 40% of daily passengers – 1,49,556 individuals – opting for this convenient payment method. This shift not only enhances commuters’ convenience but also contributes to a greener environment by reducing paper ticket usage. The fully elevated 18.589km Dahisar-Andheri West corridor of Mumbai Metro Line 2A consists of 17 stations, while the 16.495km Dahisar East – Gundavali corridor of Mumbai Metro Line 7 consists of 14 stations. Dr Sanjay Mukherjee, CMD of MMMOCL & Metropolitan Commissioner, MMRDA, expressed satisfaction with the increasing ridership and the 5% monthly growth, highlighting the growing preference for Metro transportation among Mumbaikars.
