In the past, United Autoworkers union had a customary practice of selecting one company as a potential strike target and securing a contract agreement with them, which then served as a model for negotiations with other automakers. Nevertheless, this year witnessed a departure from that approach. Union leader, Fain, introduced a novel strategy, wherein a select number of facilities at all three automakers were targeted for strikes. Consequently, the United Autoworkers strikes have recently spread to Chicago and Lansing, with the participation of 7,000 more workers on the picket line.
