Amazon Prime Video has announced the launch of ‘Hazbin Hotel,’ an adult animated series based on Vivienne Medrano’s 2019 pilot. The series, produced by A24 and animated by Fox’s Bento Box Entertainment, revolves around Charlie, the princess of Hell, who aims to rehabilitate demons and reduce overpopulation in Hell by opening a hotel. The first season of the series is scheduled to premiere in January. Medrano, known as Vivziepop on YouTube, funded the pilot via Patreon, and it premiered on YouTube in October 2019. A24 committed to producing the series in August 2020, and it found a home on Prime Video. The series joins Prime Video’s adult animation line-up, which includes ‘Invincible,’ ‘The Legend of Vox Machina,’ and upcoming titles like ‘#1 Happy Family USA’ and ‘Batman: Caped Crusader.’ Vivienne Medrano serves as the executive producer and director of all episodes, with Joel Kuwahara, Dana Tafoya-Cameron, and Scott Greenberg joining as executive producers for season one.
