The India skating contingent has won its first medal at the ongoing Asian Games in Hangzhou. India’s women’s speed skating team comprising Heeral Sadhu, Kartika Jagadeeswaran, and Aarathy Kasturi Raj secured a bronze medal in the 3000m relay final on Monday. The team completed the race with a timing of 4:34.861 minutes. The gold medal was won by Chinese Taipei, followed by South Korea in second place. India’s men’s speed skating team also secured a bronze medal in the 3000m relay final. The team members, Aryan Pal, Anand Kumar, Siddhant, and Vikram, finished the race with a timing of 4:10.128 minutes. Chinese Taipei won the gold medal in the men’s event, while South Korea took silver. With these wins, India’s total medal tally at the Asian Games now stands at 55. The roller skating events began on September 30 and will conclude on October 7.
