A brutal road rage incident on the Mumbai-Ahmedabad highway in Maharashtra’s Palghar district resulted in the death of a 40-year-old tanker driver. The incident occurred on October 1, when the victim’s vehicle accidentally brushed past a car belonging to four individuals. Enraged by the contact, the assailants forced the tanker to a stop, and started brutally assaulting the driver with sticks and an iron rod. They also caused severe damage to the vehicle by pelting it with stones. However, the victim had the presence of mind to record the assault on his mobile camera and send the footage to a family member. This crucial evidence helped in tracking down and apprehending the suspects just two days later. The victim, Ramkishore Badriprasad Kushwaha, was a resident of Nalasopara in Palghar and was transporting gas in his tanker to Gujarat at the time of the incident. Despite pleading and offering compensation, the assailants mercilessly continued their attack. The victim’s nephew arrived at the scene and rushed Kushwaha to a nearby hospital, but he was declared dead upon arrival. The video evidence, which also included a clear view of the assailants’ car’s number plate, played a pivotal role in identifying and locating the suspects. Following a complaint lodged by the victim’s nephew, all four suspects were apprehended from Nalasopara. They are now facing charges under various sections of the Indian Penal Code, including culpable homicide, mischief causing loss or damage, and common intention. The police are also considering adding a murder charge to the case. This tragic incident highlights the dangers of road rage and the need for increased awareness and stricter law enforcement to prevent such incidents.
