Rain Unlikely to Affect India-Pakistan World Cup Match in Ahmedabad, Says IMD

The India meteorological department (IMD) officials have stated that there is a low possibility of rain on October 14, the day of the India-Pakistan match in the World Cup, which will take place in Ahmedabad. Manorama Mohanty, the head of IMD Gujarat, mentioned that the current forecast suggests a minimal chance of rainfall as there is no significant weather system present. Mohanty further added that even if there is rainfall, it would be limited to a local area and widespread showers are unlikely. The IMD will provide an updated forecast next week for both the World Cup and the Navratri festival.

While there are less chance of rain, IMD said that the city’s highest temperature will reach 35 degrees Celsius, and its lowest temperature will stay around 21 degrees Celsius. The humidity level is expected to be 35 per cent on the day of the India vs. Pakistan match.

Much-awaited Indian-Pakistani cricket games will be held at the Narendra Modi stadium on October 14. It has over 1 lakh seats and is the world’s biggest cricket stadium.

The India-Pakistan match, which is set to take place in Ahmedabad on October 14, has caused an impressive surge in demand for lodging in the city. Almost all the hotels and guest houses in Ahmedabad are house full. More than 30,000 people from out of town are likely to visit Ahmedabad to watch the high octane match.

“The most searched routes for October 13 and 14 are Delhi to Ahmedabad and Mumbai to Ahmedabad,” said a travel agent. He also said that from October 1 to November 20, seven of the ten most-searched-for places to stay in India were cricket host towns. These were New Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata, Ahmedabad, Bengaluru, Chennai, and Hyderabad.
