A 64-year-old worker in Kadambur hills, identified as J. Raman, was tragically attacked and killed by a wild elephant on Thursday, October 12, 2023, in Erode. Raman and his wife had been working on a farm owned by a villager in Ganapathipalayam for 25 years. On the day of the incident, Raman had gone to the milk society at Iruttipalayam and was on his way back to the farm when he was chased and attacked by an elephant. Despite his efforts to escape, Raman was unable to outrun the elephant and succumbed to fatal injuries. The incident was immediately reported to the Kadambur Forest Range office, and the body was taken to the Government Hospital in Sathyamangalam. Local authorities, including the Kadambur Police, are conducting an investigation into the incident to ascertain the circumstances that led to the tragic attack.
