The head of Israel’s Internal Security Agency (ISA), Ronen Bar, took responsibility for failing to foil Hamas’ brutal attack on October 7 in which more than 1,300 people died, but vowed to fight till the end for a decisive victory in the war. Mr. Bar, in his first comments following the surprise attack, admitted that the ISA failed to generate a warning. However, he also emphasized the need for investigations and stated that they are currently engaged in the fight against Hamas. The ISA has set up a special system in cooperation with the Israel Defence Forces (IDF) to locate, identify, and recover kidnapped and missing persons. They have formed dedicated teams and have shown bravery and courage in their fight. Despite the failure, Bar affirms that the intelligence triangle is producing results. Israel, known for its intelligence network, is devastated by the failure of its agencies.
